What Should I Do If My MacBook Pro Is Really Hot?

Question:

The bottom of my MacBook Pro and the area between the keyboard and screen has been very hot lately, what can I do to fix it?

Answer:

If your laptop gets too hot, always remove it from your lap and put it on a desk or table. The fans within your computer should kick in at any point if your computer is overheating.

It's perfectly normal for your computer to get hot after using it for a while. Sometimes, a firmware update will help with overheating. You can see if a firmware update is available by going to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen and selecting Software Update.

You should also use your Mac laptop in an area with proper air circulation. Areas like a bed or pillow are too soft to allow for proper circulation and can block the air vents needed for cooling. You also shouldn't ever cover the keyboard as that can decrease circulation.
