Answer:
First make sure the gestures are enabled by opening the Settings app, navigating to General, and switching "Multitasking Gestures" to the on position. Once enabled there are three new gestures available to you.
1. You can pinch with four/five fingers to return to the home screen.
2. You can swipe four fingers right to left or left to right to switch between your active apps.
3. You can swipe four fingers up to activate the multitasking bar.
