How Do I Close A Frozen iPad App?

The first option is to attempt to force quit the iPad app by removing it from the Recents List. From the Home screen, double-tap the Home button. All your recent apps will appear. Hold down on the frozen app icon until all the apps in the Recent List starting bouncing. Tap on the app once it has a red minus icon next to it.

If the offending app is not allowing you to get to the Home screen, hold down the sleep/wake button at the top of the iPad until the Slide to Power Off dialog appears on your screen. Release the sleep/wake button and instead hold down the Home button for around ten seconds. The screen should flash, and the iPad will return you to the Home screen.
